Party chief pays tribute to revolutionary leaders ahead of Lunar New Year

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam on February 10 paid tribute to veteran revolutionary leaders, as the country commemorates 96 years of the Party’s founding, celebrates the success of the 14th National Party Congress and prepares to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

At the memorial site dedicated to Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu in Bac Ninh province, General Secretary To Lam and the delegation offered flowers and incense to honour the late leader’s contributions to the Vietnamese revolution.

Nguyen Van Cu, a prominent revolutionary leader and an outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh, served as Party General Secretary from 1938 and played a key role in shaping the Party’s strategic direction during a critical period of the revolutionary movement.

The delegation later visited the memorial house and exhibition area preserving documents and artefacts related to the late Party leader’s life and revolutionary career.

In Hung Yen province, General Secretary To Lam offered incense at the memorial site in tribute to Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh, the first Party leader of the Đổi mới (Renewal) period.

Nguyen Van Linh is remembered for his steadfast leadership and decisive role in initiating reforms that laid the foundation for Vietnam’s socio-economic renewal and gradual improvement of living standards.

Party leader To Lam and delegation also paid tribute to revolutionary predecessors To Hieu and Le Van Luong, honouring their lifelong dedication, sacrifices and contributions to the cause of national independence and the Party’s revolutionary struggle.

At the memorial site of Lieutenant General Nguyen Binh, a martyr and Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, General Secretary To Lam expressed deep respect for the late general’s major contributions to resistance wars against colonial and imperial forces and to the national liberation cause.

The Communist Party of Vietnam held its 14th National Congress in Hanoi from January 19 – 23, adopting a resolution with a vision to realise the country’s centenary goals by 2030 to mark 100 years of the party, and by 2045 to celebrate 100 years of the modern Vietnamese state.

Vietnamese people will celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse from February 14 to 22.
