VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Industrial and Energy Group (Petrovietnam) must embrace innovative thinking and make strategic breakthroughs in digital transformation, science and technology, and green energy to rise into the ranks of Southeast Asia’s top five enterprises, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Delivering a keynote speech at the 4th Congress of the Party Committee of Petrovietnam for the 2025–2030 term, held in Hanoi on August 3, the Prime Minister praised the group for comprehensively exceeding all 12 key targets set for the 2020–2025 term.
He highlighted the group’s impressive financial performance, including an estimated total revenue of VND1.06 quadrillion in 2025, marking an 87% increase from 2020. Cumulative revenue for 2020–2025 is projected to reach VND5.13 quadrillion, up 49% compared to the previous five-year term. In the 2024 Fortune 500 Southeast Asia rankings, Petrovietnam was ranked 11th overall, 5th in the energy sector, and 1st in Vietnam.
“The group has successfully restructured, but the greatest success lies in reviving its spirit and restoring confidence,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
Petrovietnam has successfully transitioned from the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to the Vietnam National Industrial and Energy Group, aiming for a synchronised development strategy across three pillars - energy – industry – high-quality technical services, and building an integrated industrial–energy ecosystem.
“The Group must set higher goals than before, propose suitable mechanisms and policies, and pursue breakthrough development to strive to be among the top five enterprises in Southeast Asia,” said the Government leader.
To achieve this ambition, he requested Petrovietnam to lead in innovation, accelerate digital transformation and the application of science and technology, and develop renewable energy in line with Resolution 57 of the Politburo.
He further urged the group to proactively integrate into global markets, support the private sector in line with Resolutions 59 and 68, and continue improving its governance capabilities, operational efficiency, and resilience to global volatility.
He stressed the need for PetroVietnam to improve modern governance and adaptability, optimise business operations, and flexibly respond to global market volatility. In addition, the group was required to continue to build a strong Party organisation, and enhance leadership capacity and political strength throughout the Party structure.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that with unity, determination, and innovation, Petrovietnam will continue to achieve even greater accomplishments in the next term, contributing to Vietnam’s sustainable development and deeper integration into the region and the world.
