VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over the sixth session of the Government’s steering committee for administrative reform in Hanoi on November 14.
The meeting reviewed the results of administrative reform over the past 10 months, pointed out lessons to be learned and worked out solutions to address shortcomings in completing the task in the last two months of the year.
Addressing the meeting, PM Chinh underscored the importance of administrative reform, contributing to improving the efficiency of the State apparatus, unlocking resources, supporting businesses to overcome difficulties, promoting growth, creating jobs for people, and ensuring the lives of workers.
Administrative reform is an important issue of great concern for the Party, State, National Assembly, fellow citizens and voters nationwide, especially at the ongoing sixth session of the National Assembly, said the PM.
Despite encouraging results recorded in recent times, he noted administrative procedures remain cumbersome; the business environment is not entirely open; people and businesses still encounter difficulties in dealing with administrative procedures in some areas.
Those shortcomings and limitations need to be addressed soon aimed at quickly mobilizing and effectively tapping all resources for national recovery and development in the current context, stressed the PM.
He asked members of the steering committee to work closely with ministries, agencies and localities to fulfil assigned tasks, in an attempt to promote administrative reform and improve the business investment environment.
Since 2021, ministries and ministry-level agencies have cut or streamlined 2,500 business-related rules regulated in legal documents. They have also cut and simplified 437 administrative procedures related to citizenship documents. About 21 out of 22 ministries and 61 out of all 63 localities have announced the list of administrative procedures locally.
All 63 localities have basically completed the organizational arrangements of their departments and related agencies to make their operations more efficient.
The government has issued a decree on encouraging and protecting talented officials and a strategy on attracting and appreciating talents. It has also abolished 10 circulars on recruitment and promotion of civil servants.
The eighth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee, which took place from October 2-8, was a success, creating a new momentum for the country’s synchronous and comprehensive reform, the building of the Party and the political system as well as the nation’s fast and sustainable development.
In the face of domestic and international economic difficulties, the most effective support for enterprises is to create an equal, open and transparent business environment, according to Do Thi Ngoc, head of the General Statistics Office (GSO)'s Department of General Statistics.
