VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed authorities to ensure sufficient energy supply, particularly petroleum, for production, business activities and people’s daily consumption under all circumstances, amid growing global uncertainties linked to Middle East tensions.
Chairing a meeting of the government’s standing members on March 21, the Prime Minister stressed that safeguarding energy supply is a top priority, closely tied to maintaining macroeconomic stability, social order, and improving living standards.
He noted that the global fuel market is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable, requiring both immediate response measures and long-term strategies. In this context, Vietnam must stay calm and flexible in its management approach while firmly adhering to key policy principles.
The PM called on ministries, sectors and enterprises to strictly implement the Politburo’s directives on stabilising fuel supply and prices, ensuring there are no disruptions affecting production or daily life.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade was tasked with closely monitoring global and domestic fuel market developments, improving forecasting capacity, and proactively preparing response scenarios to ensure adequate supply. Key petroleum distributors were instructed to secure sufficient inventories, maintain stable distribution, and prevent supply shortages across regions.
At the same time, authorities were urged to strengthen market supervision and strictly handle violations such as hoarding, price manipulation, smuggling, and trade fraud, in order to protect consumers and ensure market stability.
The Prime Minister also directed the State Bank of Vietnam to facilitate access to financing for petroleum enterprises, enabling them to maintain imports, reserves, and supply operations.
Local governments were encouraged to promote energy efficiency, support the use of public transport and cleaner energy sources, and contribute to the country’s broader green transition.
Emphasising the role of public communication, the Prime Minister called on media agencies to provide accurate and objective information to help stabilise public sentiment and consumption, while encouraging businesses and citizens to use energy efficiently.
The meeting was held to review the Government’s leadership, direction and management since late February in responding to the global energy crisis triggered by tensions in the Middle East, as well as the implementation of the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 14 on ensuring fuel supply and price stability under the new circumstances.
