VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 15 urged the public security force to ensure absolute security for the coming 14th National Party Congress and national legislative elections, while strengthening efforts to counter both traditional and non-traditional security threats, particularly in cyberspace.
Speaking at the 81st National Public Security Force Conference in Hanoi, the PM noted the Ministry of Public Security must give top priority to safeguarding major political events in 2026, including the 14th National Party Congress slated for January, and elections to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term slated for March.
He praised the contributions of the public security force to Vietnam’s political stability and socio-economic achievements in 2025, saying police officers have played a vital role in protecting national security and maintaining public order.
He called on the force to strengthen internal political security, protect sensitive personnel work and prevent cyberattacks, information leaks, disinformation and acts of incitement that could undermine social stability, particularly those exploiting online platforms.
The Government leader also stressed the importance of proactive and transparent communications to guide public opinion and strengthen public trust.
Opening the conference, Public Security Minister Luong Tam Quang said the event was to review policing activities in 2025, including efforts to combat corruption, waste and misconduct, and outline priorities for 2026 as Vietnam prepares to implement resolutions adopted at the 14th Party Congress.
The minister said 2026 would be a pivotal year, marking the start of implementing key Party resolutions, with the goal of building a professional, modern and capable police force to support Vietnam’s long-term objectives of stability, sustainable development and improved living standards.
He reaffirmed the commitment to building a professional, capable and modern public security force, calling for proactive situation awareness, comprehensive reforms in policing methods and unified action to successfully carry out tasks to ensure security and public order in 2026.
