
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Cuba will deepen the special friendship, loyal solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples, while providing mutual support amid current international challenges.
The views were shared during a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30 between Party General Secretary To Lam and Salvador Valdes Mesa, Vice President of Cuba, who was on an official visit to Vietnam.
To Lam thanked the Cuban Party and State for sending a high-level delegation to Vietnam’s grand celebration on the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country on April 30.
He reiterated Vietnam’s deep appreciation for Cuba’s profound and enduring solidarity during the country’s past struggle for national liberation and in its current development efforts. He emphasised that the special traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries is a priceless legacy that must be preserved and passed on to future generations.
The Vietnamese leader also recalled the sincere sentiments extended by the Cuban leadership and people during his state visit to Cuba in September 2024. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s solidarity with Cuba amid current challenges and its readiness to support the Cuban people within its capacity.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban people would overcome difficulties and continue progressing in their socialist path.
Mesa conveyed warm greetings from First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President Miguel Díaz-Canel and General Raúl Castro to General Secretary Tô Lâm and Vietnam’s leadership. He congratulated Vietnam on the successful commemoration of the historic reunification day, calling the April 30, 1975 victory a triumph of justice and peace that resonates globally, including among the Cuban people.
He remarked on the vibrant and celebratory atmosphere in Vietnam, noting the strong public confidence in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He voiced belief that this unity is a vital foundation for Vietnam to achieve its goal of becoming a high-income, developed nation.
Mesa for his part praised Vietnam’s impressive development achievements and expressed his trust in the continued success of the policies and resolutions recently adopted by the Communist Party of Vietnam under the leadership of General Secretary To Lam.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the strengthening of the two countries’ traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation. They highlighted ongoing collaboration in key sectors such as rice cultivation, fisheries, renewable energy, and biotechnology. They also discussed measures to further enhance bilateral economic cooperation in a substantive and effective manner, aiming to match the excellent political relations.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has underscored the enduring relations between Vietnam and Cuba, affirming that Vietnam always considers the Caribbean country a top important and trusted partner regardless of circumstances.
Two Vietnamese-invested enterprises in Cuba - Thai Binh Global (wholly Vietnamese-owned) and Suchel TBV joint venture - have been awarded the title of national pioneer unit by the Cuban national industrial federation (SNTI) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to production, and trade union activities.
Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz has praised Vietnam’s rice aid and expressed his gratitude for its technical support in helping the Caribbean nation move toward self-sufficiency in this food source.
