VOV.VN - Vietnam’s newly elected Party Central Committee is set to vote on the country’s top party leadership positions later today (January 23), as part of the 14th National Party Congress.
The vote will take place at the first plenum of the newly elected Party Central Committee which was elected on January 22, comprising 200 members, including 180 full members and 20 alternates.
At the meeting, the Party Central Committee is expected to vote on the party’s key leadership posts, including the general secretary, members of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Inspection Commission and the head of the Central Inspection Commission. The elections are conducted under the party’s internal rules, involving discussions, nominations and secret ballots.
The results will complete the leadership selection process of the five-yearly party congress, which sets the political direction and policy priorities for Vietnam, a fast-growing Southeast Asian economy and a major global manufacturing and export hub.
The 14th National Party Congress is scheduled to close later on the same day.
