
VOV.VN - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son is making an official visit to Japan from August 7-10 at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Kamikawa Yoko.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart Kamikawa Yoko and co-chair the 12th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee.
This marks the first meeting of he Cooperation Committee since the two countries moved to upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the purpose of peace and prosperity in Asia and throughout the world, focusing on the content and vision to bolster co-operation across multiple key aspects in the bilateral relationship.
Political trust has been increasingly consolidated, while exchanges between delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, have been conducted through all Party, State, and National Assembly channels.
Japan continues to be the nation’s leading economic partner. The two sides have bolstered co-operation in the fields of education and training, culture, people-to-people and local exchanges, whilst also expanding ties into new areas. This includes fields such as digital transformation, green transformation, and semiconductors. They have co-ordinated closely and effectively, whilst offering mutual support at multilateral forums such as the UN, ASEAN, and the East Sea issue.
FM Son is expected to greet Japanese leaders and meet with a number of politicians, leaders of major economic organisations, and Vietnamese intellectuals in strategic fields, as well as paying a visit to Hokkaido as it is the leading locality in the Far East nation for agriculture, fisheries, and seafood.
The visit takes place amid the bilateral relationship enjoying steady growth, especially after 2023 when the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.
During the visit, the two FMs will focus on a range of measures aimed at enhancing bilateral relations in the areas of economics, trade, investment, ODA co-operation, as well as many other fields, thereby making the Vietnam-Japan relation more effective and more substantial.
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the government supports stronger cooperation between the Vietnamese and Japanese Ministries of Defense, while receiving Japanese Defense Minister Kihara Minoru in Hanoi on August 6.
