VOV.VN - A grand welcome ceremony was held on March 10 at Merdeka Palace - the Presidential Palace in Jakarta for Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on their state visit at the invitation of President and Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Prabowo Subianto.
At 4:45 p.m., a motorcade carrying General Secretary To Lam entered the Presidential Palace while an Indonesian ceremonial team performed a traditional dance to greet the top Vietnamese Party leader and his delegation.
President Prabowo Subianto personally welcomed General Secretary To Lam at his vehicle and invited him onto the honorary platform, as Indonesian children waved the flags of both countries in a warm greeting to the two leaders.
The military band then played the national anthems of Vietnam and Indonesia, while a 21-gun salute was fired in honor of General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
Following the ceremony, President Prabowo Subianto invited General Secretary To Lam to inspect the honor guard and introduced key officials from both sides. Immediately after the welcome ceremony, the two leaders held a private meeting and then engaged in high-level talks to discuss measures to further take bilateral relations to new heights.
