President presents appointment decisions to Vietnamese ambassadors

VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong on January 16 presented appointment decisions to Vietnamese ambassadors to foreign countries at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

At the event, Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office on behalf of the State President, announced the decisions appointing 16 ambassadors of Vietnam to overseas posts.

Presenting the appointment decisions and assigning tasks, President Luong Cuong congratulated the newly appointed ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.

He said the appointments reflect the Party and State’s recognition of their efforts and contributions during their service, while also carrying an important responsibility entrusted by the Party, the State and the people.

Noting that the ambassadors will take up duties in different regions, all of which hold important significance for national interests, the State President expressed confidence that, as professional diplomats with integrity, expertise and extensive experience, they will successfully fulfill their responsibilities in their new roles.

President Luong Cuong said that in recent years, particularly during the term of the 13th National Party Congress, Vietnam’s foreign affairs work has achieved major and historically significant results, helping strengthen the country’s position, prestige and overall capacity. He urged the ambassadors and heads of missions to remain steadfast in the Party and State’s foreign policy, keep their work closely linked to national development goals, and implement the foreign policy priorities set out in Party resolutions and the directives of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He stressed that diplomacy must work in close coordination with national defence and security to form a strong three-pillar framework, serving the strategy of safeguarding the country “early and from afar” while supporting national development.

Ambassadors were also asked to closely monitor developments and provide timely advice and recommendations to ensure that Vietnam’s foreign policy best serves national interests.

The Vietnamese State leader underlined the importance of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development, adding that diplomacy must contribute effectively to economic growth, which remains a central task. He noted that achieving sustained high growth in the coming period will require contributions from many sectors, including diplomacy.

Depending on their host countries, President Luong Cuong said each ambassador should capitalize on local strengths and opportunities to mobilize resources for national development, with priority given to cooperation in key areas such as science and technology, strategic infrastructure and advanced human resources.

He also called on ambassadors and heads of missions to strengthen community work, particularly efforts to unite overseas Vietnamese communities and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens and businesses abroad, while better mobilizing the intellectual and financial resources of overseas Vietnamese, especially experts, scientists and entrepreneurs.

President Luong Cuong expressed his hope that, as Vietnam’s representatives overseas, the ambassadors and heads of missions will help promote the country’s image, culture and people, and build strong, united missions that contribute effectively to Vietnam’s foreign affairs and development goals.
