He expressed hope that the Lao leadership will continue supporting Vietnamese enterprises, including military-run businesses investing in Laos, to contribute to local socio-economic development and poverty reduction in strategic areas.

General Nghia also thanked the Lao Party, Government, and military for assisting Vietnam’s "500-day-and-night campaign" launched in March 2026 to search for and identify the remains of fallen Vietnamese soldiers in Laos.

Lao leaders highly valued the defence cooperation between the two nations, affirming that Laos will continue to create favorable conditions to reinforce the special solidarity and close ties between the two militaries and peoples.

Earlier on August 5, General Nghia held talks with his Lao counterpart Vongsone Inpanphim. On regional security, the Vietnamese official reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent stance on maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea, resolving disputes through peaceful means based on international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and working towards an effective Code of Conduct (COC).
