The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee is scheduled to convene its second meeting on May 11 morning, with preparations for the second session of the 16th NA among items on the agenda.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man will deliver the opening remarks and, together with NA chairpersons, co-chair the meeting, the NA Office announced.
Participants are set to consider and vote on an ordinance amending and supplementing some articles of the ordinance on the consolidation of legal normative documents.
They will also scrutinise a report on the NA’s settlement of citizens’ petitions in March and April.
In addition, the Standing Committee will review the first session of the 16th NA, held in April, and give initial opinions on the preparations for the second session, slated for later this year.
The National Assembly on April 12 adopted a resolution introducing key provisions on environmental protection tax, value-added tax and excise tax applicable to petrol, oil and aviation fuel.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on May 4 underscored the need for a comprehensive revision of the Land Law in the coming period, coupled with enhanced oversight of delayed projects and stagnant planning schemes, as part of broader efforts to remove bottlenecks and sustain socio-economic development.
The National Assembly on April 24 adopted a resolution setting out a goal of achieving rapid and sustainable national development, with average GDP growth of at least 10% per year in the next five years, while maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major economic balances.
