The visits convey a strong message about Vietnam’s foreign policy in its new development phase. They are expected to help consolidate political trust and expand opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, green and sustainable growth, contributing to the national construction and development.

The State visit to Denmark by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam takes place as the two nations celebrate the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. Throughout the 55-year history of Vietnam-Denmark relations, spanning framework agreements on Strategic Partnership in climate change, energy, environment, and green growth to Comprehensive Partnership and Green Strategic Partnership, both sides have established a firm foundation for all-around  cooperation.

On the basis of friendly relations, political trust, and good cooperation over the past 55 years, this visit by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam offers an opportunity for both sides to set out strategic orientations, elevate bilateral relations in a new development phase, and promote cooperation with Denmark to become an exemplary model of cooperation between Vietnam and a Nordic partner. The visit will be an important historical milestone in bilateral relations, demonstrating strategic vision, political determination, and mutual trust between the leaders of the two countries, while creating new momentum to bring Vietnam-Denmark relations to new heights.

In relations with the EU, especially in the context that the two sides have just upgraded bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in January this year, this visit by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam continues to affirm Vietnam's pioneering role as a bridge for ASEAN in cooperation with the EU. With broad potential for cooperation and firm trust in the bright future of bilateral relations, on the basis of outstanding achievements over the past more than 35 years, the visit is also an opportunity for both sides to further deepen important cooperation pillars, especially in trade, investment, science- technology, and human resource training, thereby building Vietnam-EU relations into a model within the framework of ASEAN-EU cooperation.

For Belgium, the visit follows the State visit by King Philippe to Vietnam in April 2025, and comes at a time when relations between the two countries have a favorable foundation after more than 50 years of diplomatic relations and eight years of implementing the Strategic Partnership framework in agriculture with high political trust, as well as increasingly deep understanding and connection. The visit aims for both sides to create an important transition in cooperation in areas where Belgium has strengths and Vietnam is prioritizing, such as science - technology, semiconductor chips, renewable energy, green agriculture, innovation, logistics, and smart seaports.
