
Party General Secretary and State President To Lam met staffs of the Embassy, the Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, and other representative offices of Vietnam in the US in New York on September 23 evening (local time), within the framework of his trip to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79).
Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Consul General in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan, and Consul General in Houston Hoang Thuy Duong all expressed their delight and honour to welcome the top leader.
They emphasised that his working visit has further strengthened Vietnam's position and role at international forums, significantly promote the positive development of Vietnam-US relations. They also committed to continuing to harness collective strength, stay engaged in local affairs, effectively implement foreign affairs, actively provide advice for the Party and State to make appropriate policy decisions, and promote and support cooperation activities between the two countries, as well as community issues.
Lam affirmed that his trip is of great significance for implementing the foreign policy of the Party and State, and it has already yielded positive results that serve the country's development.
Acknowledging and appreciating efforts made by the staffs of Vietnamese representative agencies in the US, he stressed that the US is one of the key focal points in Vietnam's foreign policy and a vibrant and promising market for domestic businesses.
The upgrade of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership has contributed to making the relationship more substantive and in-depth across all areas, including politics, trade, investment, as well as security and defence, requiring all of the staffs to exert more efforts to meet higher requirements, he noted.
