The Vietnamese diplomat announced an update on the preparation process and participation in the COP28 Conference of the high-level Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He affirmed that the nation has been making every effort to meet the commitments made at COP26, especially the goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
At the conference, Vietnam and other countries will introduce many initiatives aimed at promoting global climate action and continuing to accelerate the implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership Agreement (JETP), including the development of a Resource Mobilization Plan (RMP).
The Ambassador went on to express his appreciation for Secretary General Guterres' support for the country in carrying out JETP, stating his hope that the UN would continue to support the nation in this process.
The UN chief hailed recent Vietnamese efforts to implement international climate commitments and expressed his trust and hope that the country will continue to play an active role at multilateral forums, while also stepping up its own climate change response efforts.
The UN will always accompany the nation in this process, especially in terms of mobilizing resources and realizing the JETP, he affirmed.
