VOV.VN - Vietnam consistently regards the US as a partner of strategic importance, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang affirmed on September 21 while hosting Linh Austin, Chairman and CEO of US-based battery and critical mineral company R3 Lithium, in Hanoi.
The Deputy PM expressed Vietnam's desire to work alongside US enterprises to further advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into greater depth, efficiency, and substance.
Discussing new policies in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), the Deputy PM said Vietnam is implementing a new development model in which science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation serve as key drivers. The country prioritizes deep processing, modern technology applications, and environmental protection.
Accordingly, Vietnam advocates for broader international integration, including participation in international tech supply chains, leveraging external resources for development, and offering favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, such as R3 Lithium, to conduct effective business operations in the country.
Linh Austin expressed enthusiasm for Vietnam's increasingly open and favorable investment policies, noting that the electrification of transportation in Vietnam is developing rapidly with a growing number of electric vehicles. He also praised the capability of Vietnamese enterprises in cooperating on business investments within fields where R3 Lithium holds core strengths.
Highlighting Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, Linh Austin stated that the company is interested in cooperating with Vietnamese partners on the green transition, particularly in battery technology, recycling, and critical mineral processing. The objective extends beyond forming a supply chain to building a comprehensive ecosystem for recycling and reusing batteries and critical minerals in Vietnam.
Welcoming US businesses to invest in Vietnam, Deputy PM Thang said that a market of over 100 million people, coupled with rising demand for vehicle transformation, creates huge potential for projects involving batteries and new materials.
According to the Deputy PM, Vietnam aims to move beyond attracting additional investment capital to establish cooperative relationships built on co-creation, where investment is closely tied to research and development, technology transfer, high-quality human resource training, enhanced capacity for domestic enterprises, and the creation of products with global value.
Deputy PM Hung expressed hope that R3 Lithium will continue to make positive contributions to the development of Vietnam-US relations in the coming period.
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in the US hosted a solemn commemoration ceremony on the evening of September 16 at Viet Nam House in Washington D.C, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945-September 2, 2026).
The upcoming working trip to the US by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam will create fresh impetus for further development of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership substantively, while reaffirming Vietnam’s responsible contributions to global issues.
