VOV.VN - Vietnam expresses deep concern over the current developments between Cambodia and Thailand, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said on December 8 in response to reporters’ questions on Vietnam’s reaction to the rising tensions along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
As a neighboring country and fellow ASEAN member, Vietnam calls on both sides to exercise maximum restraint, refrain from the use of force, fully carry out the ceasefire agreement, and continue dialogue to peacefully and satisfactorily resolve differences based on the fundamental principles of international law, the UN Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), as well as in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Vietnam will continue to actively support dialogue and the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries to restore peace and cooperation along the border in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, for the long-term benefit of both sides and the region, the official added.
Cambodian Defence Minister General Tea Banh will arrive in Bangkok to meet his Thai counterpart Prawit Wongsuwan to discuss continued cooperation along the border, the Cambodian Defence Ministry said in a statement on March 19.
