Vietnamese Embassy prepared for emergency citizen protection in Syria

Emergency contact numbers for the Embassy have been shared with both Syrian authorities and the public.

Syria has given no specific information about Vietnamese citizens within its border, according to the embassy.

The Embassy is also coordinating with the Philippine Embassies in Iran and Syria to seek additional assistance for citizen protection. The Philippines has already started to evacuate its citizens from Syria.

Given the escalating conflict between rebel forces and the Syrian government, the Embassy strongly advises Vietnamese nationals to avoid traveling to Syria. Those currently in the country are urged to evacuate immediately, either to a third country or back to Vietnam.
