VOV.VN - Voter turnout nationwide reached 99.68% at the end of March 15, with 76,188,544 voters having cast their ballots as of 11:23 p.m., according to a rapid update from the Office of the National Election Council.
The oldest voter was Hoang Thi Tong, aged 119, from the Mong ethnic group in Lung Liem hamlet, Yen Tho commune, Cao Bang province.
In Lao Cai province, 173 voters aged 100 or older took part in the vote, including 31 men and 142 women. The oldest voter there was Giang Nu Sua, aged 114.
Nationwide, four of the country’s 34 provinces and centrally run cities recorded the highest turnout rate of 99.99%, including Lao Cai, Hue, Tuyen Quang and Vinh Long.
All 34 provinces and cities reported turnout exceeding 99%.
Public trust and support for the election
Public opinion has consistently expressed trust in and support for the election. The active participation of voters reflects a strong awareness of the value of the ballot.
Domestic and international media continued to follow and report on developments related to the election. Coverage focused on voting activities in provinces and cities and at polling stations, with particular attention to the participation of Party and State leaders, members of the armed forces, elderly voters, first-time young voters, ethnic minority communities, religious dignitaries, and voters in border areas, islands, mountainous regions and other difficult localities.
Reports emphasized that the election was organized in a democratic and orderly manner and conducted in full compliance with legal procedures, while also showing the sense of responsibility and the festive atmosphere of the country’s national voting day.
International media outlets also reported on Vietnam’s election day, including TASS, Sputnik and RT (Russia); KPL Lao News Agency and Pasaxon (Laos); The Straits Times (Singapore); Nikkei Asia (Japan); and Yonhap News Agency (The Republic of Korea).
As of 7 p.m., a total of 6,402 news reports and articles on the election had been published in domestic newspapers, magazines and online news portals.
At the close of the election, political security and social order nationwide remained stable, ensuring safe conditions for voters to cast their ballots.
