
VOV.VN - An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale hit Kon Plong district of the Central Highland province of Kon Tum on the morning of September 22, following detection by the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Geophysics of Vietnam.
The earthquake occurred at about 7:45 a.m. with its epicentre at a depth of about 8km.
The area was also shaken by two minor quakes measuring between 2.7 and 2.9 on the Richter scale on September 21, with its epicentre at a depth of between 8.1km and 10km. However, these tremors posed no risk of disaster.
Earthquakes have been occurring frequently and continuously in Kon Plong since 2021. Recently, their frequency and magnitude has been on the rise. Indeed, the strongest earthquake hitting the area over recent years was a magnitude 4.7 quake recorded on August 23, 2022.
VOV.VN - No Vietnamese deaths have been reported following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Morocco on September 8, killing more than 2,000 to date.
