A new storm likely to form in East Sea

The storm, the sixth in the East Sea this year, is forecast to slam into central Vietnam which was severely devastated by storm Noul recently.

Noul which bartered central Vietnam on September 18 had left 6 dead and more than 100 injured. It had also damaged more than 22,000 houses, submerged many hectares of rice and subsidiary crops, ruined aquatic farms.

Meteorologists say subsequent storms will be forming in the East Sea from now till the end of November and will be striking Vietnam, particularly central and south-central regions.

Meanwhile, a mild cold front is moving towards northern Vietnam from China and is expected to affect the whole region on October 5. It will cause temperatures to drop to a low of 24 degrees Celsius and bring heavy rain to the region.

Northern mountainous localities such as Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang and Bac Kan are warned about possible flash floods and landslides.
