109 Vietnamese citizens handed over by Cambodia
Authorities in the southern province of An Giang on May 29 received 109 Vietnamese citizens repatriated from Cambodia through the Tinh Bien International Border Gate.
VOV.VN - The border guard station of the Ha Tien International Border Gate and An Giang provincial Border Guard Command on June 4 received 180 Vietnamese citizens handed over by Cambodian authorities for violating the country’s immigration, labour and residency regulations.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tan Duong, Commander of the Ha Tien International Border Gate said that the Vietnamese citizens returning to Vietnam all have different circumstances.
In addition to strictly adhering to the law, competent agencies always strive to show compassion and responsibility so that everyone feels the concern of the Party, the State, and the border guard forces.
Immediately after the handover, the border guard station worked with relevant forces to conduct health declarations, provide medical care, and complete initial legal procedures. The 180 individuals were then handed over to competent agencies for further verification and handling in line with regulations.
In particular, for those who have poor health, or travel with children, border guards arranged accommodation, provided essential items and facilitated their return to the hometowns.
Notably, during the reception process, the An Giang provincial Border Guard Command detected and arrested two people residing in Ho Chi Minh City, for robbery and for receiving stolen property.
The An Giang border guard force is completing procedures to hand over the two suspects to the police for handling in accordance with the law.
