Local authorities reported on August 26 that most casualties occurred in Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces, where many areas remain inundated.
Kajiki made landfall on the afternoon of August 25 with winds exceeding more than 100 kmh, toppling trees, damaging thousands of homes, and causing severe power outages.
Initial reports show Kajiki brought down 331 electricity poles, leaving nearly 1.3 million customers without power.
Heavy rainfall has swollen major rivers, raising the risk of further floods and landslides.
Rescue forces, including military units, have been deployed to evacuate residents from danger zones and assist in recovery efforts. Authorities warn that the storm’s remnants will continue to dump heavy rain across northern and north-central provinces in the coming days.
