VOV.VN - The Vietnam Maritime Rescue Force has rescued a Chinese seafarer who suffered a serious occupational accident in the East Sea.
The seafarer was part of the crewmembers on board XIN DAN YANG, an oil tanker sailing under the flag of Hong Kong (China).
The oil tanker sent out an SOS signal on July 6 evening when it was sailing through the waters about 30 nautical miles east of the coast of Nha Trang.
The Chinese seafarer had a life-threatening occupational accident, with the thumb of his left hand severed along with constant bleeding.
Receiving the signal, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center asked the ship to redirect to Nha Trang, and at the same time dispatched the specialized search and rescue ship SAR 273 stationed in Nha Trang to leave the wharf to carry out rescue work.
After a while, SAR 273 approached the oil tanker, gave first aid to the victim and brought the patient back to shore for emergency treatment.
By midnight, SAR 273 arrived ashore and handed over the patient to the authorities and the ship owner’s representative in Vietnam according to regulations.
The victim was transferred to Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment. Thanks to timely support, he was out of danger.
