The information was unveiled at the 6th Vietnam-EU Joint Committee Meeting on the implementation of the Vietnam-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) in Brussels on November 24, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Paola Pampaloni, Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS).

During the meeting, Pampaloni expressed her condolences for the damage caused by subsequent storms and floods in Vietnam’s central region and confirmed the EU’s support of EUR850,000 to aid recovery efforts. She also highlighted contributions from EU member countries, including Germany and the Czech Republic, to assist affected communities.

Meanwhile, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said it has received the EU relief shipment, which arrived at Noi Bai International Airport from Luxembourg on November 24. After customs clearance, the goods were immediately transported to Dak Lak province for distribution in the hardest-hit areas.

The shipment includes 138 stainless steel kitchenware sets, complete with pots, pans, and saucepans and 150 family tents to meet basic needs of affected households.

Earlier on November 23, relief supplies from international organisations, including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Save the Children, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS Vietnam), were delivered to Tuy An Dong and Tuy An Tay communes in Dak Lak. Essentials such as drinking water, milk, cakes, and instant sausages were handed over to the local Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees for prompt distribution to residents.

Authorities acknowledged the support from international partners, noting that timely assistance helps ensure social security for communities affected by natural disasters and reflects the strong cooperation between Vietnam and the international community in disaster response.
