Fansipan peak in Sapa covered in frost as temperature falls sharply

Frost appear on the Fansipan mountain peak in Sa Pa town in the northern province of Lao Cai on the early morning of December 23 as the temperature fell to below one degree Celsius.

A media representative from Fansipan Legend says at around 5am on December 23, the temperature in Fansipan peak drop to below 1 degree Celsius.

According to the representative, there is a thin layer of ice on the Fansipan peak due to low temperature.

A 1cm-layer of ice covers the wooden floor and plants on the Fansipan peak.

At around 7:30am, when the sun rises, the layer of ice shows signs of melting.

Meanwhile, in Sa Pa, the temperature has drops below 10 degrees Celsius for several days, even plunge to below 1 degree Celsius in the early morning.

To meet the tourists’ demand during Christmas and New Year season, Sa Pa town has unveiled a series of special cultural, sports and tourism events during the 2024 Winter Festival and the 2025 Spring Festival.

These festive activities begin from December 20 until the end of the New Year holiday as visitors are expected to experience the Christmas atmosphere at Sa Pa Ethnic Culture Park. In addition, throughout the Lunar New Year (Tet), a string of diverse activities will be launched in the town to attract a large number of local and foreign tourists
