VOV.VN - As of November 12, embassies and international organisations have pledged and delivered more than US$10.5 million in aid to assist Vietnamese localities affected by typhoons Bualoi, Matmo, Fengshen and subsequent flooding.
The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a ceremony on November 12 to receive emergency relief from the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) for residents impacted by recent floods in Da Nang City.
This delivery marks the third of three humanitarian aid flights from the AHA Centre. The total shipment includes 3,648 sets of essential household items, 1,999 kitchen kits, and 3,000 personal hygiene kits, with an estimated total value exceeding US$264,000. The two previous flights arrived in Da Nang on November 11.
The Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee is responsible for receiving and distributing the relief items to affected households in areas hit by heavy rain and flooding in late October and early November.
Earlier in October, the AHA Centre also dispatched emergency supplies to support flood-affected communities in Cao Bang province.
By November 12, international aid to disaster-hit localities across Vietnam included both financial assistance and essential goods such as agricultural recovery support, bottled water, filtration systems, blankets, water tanks, multi-purpose plastic sheets, hygiene and household kits, kitchen utensils, home repair materials, and school supplies.
The beneficiaries of this aid include affected residents in the provinces and cities of Lao Cai, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Hue, and Da Nang.
The Vietnam Red Cross Society has launched an emergency relief operation to support residents in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Quang Ngai provinces, severely impacted by Typhoon Kalmaegi and its aftermath.
