VOV.VN - The Federal Government of Germany has pledged EUR185.5 million to support development projects in Vietnam over the next two years, the German Embassy in Vietnam said on December 2.
Of the total, EUR25.5 million will be earmarked for advisory projects under technical cooperation, while EUR160 million will support sustainable investment in enterprises.
The commitment followed bilateral intergovernmental negotiations held in late November 2025 in Hanoi, co-chaired by Hoang Hai, Deputy Director of the Department of Debt Management and External Finance under the Ministry of Finance, and Gisela Hammerschmidt, Deputy Director at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Both countries aim to deepen collaboration in renewable energy and vocational training, with a new focus on strengthening partnerships with the private sector.
Germany is currently Vietnam’s most important European partner, and the two countries are working to further tighten this relationship.
A significant breakthrough during the negotiations was the agreement on Technical Cooperation Guidelines (TC-Guidelines), which is expected to streamline project appraisal and implementation, enhance coordination, and improve project-level efficiency.
This latest commitment reinforces Germany’s ongoing support for Vietnam, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Since the establishment of development cooperation, Germany has provided Vietnam with more than EUR3 billion in development assistance.
