Hanoi accelerates digital transformation toward a smart city

VOV.VN - Hanoi is focusing on developing data infrastructure, building information-sharing platforms and integrated centers to create a digital government that boosts administrative reform and improves the experience of residents and businesses.

Citizens can now track the progress of their administrative procedures directly on their smartphones, saving time and travel costs while enjoying greater transparency. The expansion of online public services has significantly changed how residents interact with government agencies in the capital.

According to Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, digital transformation and administrative reform are matters of mindset and organizational structure, with data connectivity being the “golden key” to achieving the goal of processing 100% of administrative procedures online.

The city has introduced a list of shared digital applications for all three levels of government and socio-political organizations, helping standardize and synchronize technological platforms, save resources, and avoid duplication. Alongside building a local data repository and data-sharing platform, Hanoi also prioritizes standardization, security, and access management.

Experts note that to make data systems truly effective for administrative transactions, in addition to being “accurate-complete-clean-live and well-connected,” they must also be comprehensive.

Digital transformation will reshape how government operates and delivers public services, contributing to Hanoi’s vision of becoming a genuine digital community where technology serves everyday life.
