VOV.VN - Authorities of Hanoi discussed preparations on June 11 for a grand ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, including a military parade with the participation of approximately 40,000 people.
The grand ceremony is scheduled to take place at Ba Dinh Square, a historical landmark in the capital city, on September 2.
Drawing lessons from the organisation of the 70th anniversary celebration held 10 years ago, the Hanoi administration is directing municipal departments and agencies to implement 10 key tasks. They include organising parade routes through central Hanoi streets; ensuring maximum security and public order, including anti-terrorism, protest control, fire safety; deploying emergency medical teams, ambulances, and ensuring disease prevention and food safety.
The city is planning to install a 30,000-seat grandstand, 4 large LED screens, 400 loudspeakers and 612 mobile toilets to serve delegates and visitors.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh, who also heads the Organising Committee, emphasised the importance of early action, well-prepared contingency plans, and flawless execution to ensure the success of the grand celebration.
The event must reflect the dignity and prestige of the capital, uphold Hanoi’s image as a civilized, elegant city, and leave a strong impression both domestically and internationally, said the official.
The ceremony is also seen as a meaningful opportunity to unify the nation, honour its revolutionary history, and showcase Vietnam’s progress and stability, he added.
He reminded that special attention will be paid to guest reception and public engagement to create a celebratory atmosphere that every citizen can participate in and enjoy. Civic education and cultural promotion campaigns will be intensified to spread pride and excitement across the capital.
The plan for organising the celebration, military parade, and procession will be issued before June 15.
