Hanoi intensifies food safety efforts ahead of National Day celebration

VOV.VN - The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued Plan No. 176 to step up food safety measures in preparation for the peak period of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), as well as the 18th Hanoi Party Congress and key tasks for the remainder of 2025.

The plan focuses on tightly monitoring the entire food supply chain, from production to consumption to prevent foodborne illness and ensure public health. It will be carried out from July 1 to December 31, with intensified inspection from July through September, particularly at venues hosting major celebrations, parades, and official events.

Competent agencies will conduct inspections, enforce regulations, monitor supply sources, test food samples, and prepare rapid response plans to deal with any food poisoning incidents. During the event period, task forces will supervise food preparation procedures, carry out sample testing, and monitor food services at accommodations.

Alongside these efforts, Hanoi is also accelerating key food safety initiatives tied to its sustainable development goals and the broader aim of improving quality of life for residents.

Implementation will involve coordinated efforts across key sectors. Health agencies will take the lead on food safety monitoring at schools and event venues, while trade and agriculture officials will focus on market inspections, supply chain traceability, and the safety of farm products. Relevant departments, ranging from public security and culture to tourism, education, science, and communications, will work jointly to raise public awareness, enforce regulations, and promptly handle any violations or food safety risks during this period of heightened activity.
