VOV.VN - A summer camp bringing together young overseas Vietnamese and youth from Ho Chi Minh City opened on August 25, offering participants an opportunity to explore the city's history, revolutionary traditions and cultural heritage.
The 19th edition, themed “Proud of the City Named after Uncle Ho,” was launched following a flower-offering ceremony in memory of President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero, outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people and a great cultural figure of Vietnam.
The camp, scheduled to run from August 25 to 29, brings together 50 young overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese students studying abroad who were introduced by Vietnamese diplomatic missions overseas. The participants represent the younger generation of Vietnamese communities from 17 countries and territories.
During the programme, participants will take part in a range of activities, including incense-offering ceremonies at the Nga Ba Giong National Historical Relic Site; visits to sites associated with the search for and recovery of the remains of fallen soldiers; and exchanges with members of the Ho Chi Minh City Resistance Tradition Club to learn more about the city's revolutionary history.
They will also visit Con Dao Museum and Phu Hai Prison, hold a candle-lighting ceremony in tribute to fallen heroes at Hang Duong Cemetery, and visit and present gifts to former political prisoners and policy beneficiary families in Con Dao.
The programme will also include volunteer activities at the Que Huong Humanitarian Centre in Di An Ward.
According to Truong Van Thoi, deputy chief of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the camp provides a platform for participants to connect, exchange experiences and develop skills through a range of activities.
More than 100 young overseas Vietnamese (OVs) from 32 countries and territories took part in a series of meaningful activities in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa on July 23 as part of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2026.
