VOV.VN - The Air Defense – Air Force Service on October 8 deployed three helicopters to urgently deliver relief supplies to residents in northern Lang Son province where many areas have been completely isolated by severe flooding.
After nearly four hours of continuous flight under challenging weather conditions, the helicopters successfully completed their mission, airlifting and dropping 4 tonnes of emergency aid, including food, clean water, medicine, and other essential supplies.
The packages were precisely dropped at designated collection points in isolated areas, ensuring timely access to aid for local communities. The flight crews returned safely to base, concluding their dedicated and responsible mission.
This marks the first time helicopters have been used in this flooding event, as many remote areas remain inaccessible by road due to landslides and deep inundation. Several communes, such as Yen Binh, Van Nham, Tuan Son, Trang Dinh, and That Khe, are among the worst-hit and currently cut off.
As of October 8, 2025, flooding has affected over 3,000 households, with dozens of homes collapsing or being damaged by landslides. Thousands of hectares of crops have been destroyed, and initial economic losses are estimated at VND150 billion.
Notably, a section of the Bac Khe 1 hydropower dam was breached on October 7, threatening the safety of nearly 1,000 residents. Authorities have promptly evacuated people from the danger zone.
Local authorities, together with military, police, and border forces, continue to work around the clock to support affected residents and mitigate the disaster’s impact. Weather forecasts indicate continued heavy rainfall in the coming days, with a high risk of further flooding and landslides in mountainous areas.
The deployment of helicopters for emergency aid delivery underscores the government and military’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind during this natural disaster.
