VOV.VN - Authorities in Dong Cuong commune, northern Lao Cai province, working with functional forces, have safely disposed of a large unexploded bomb weighing nearly 300 kilograms and measuring about 1.2 meters in length.
According to Le Thanh Hung, chairman of the Dong Cuong Commune People’s Committee, local residents in San Bay hamlet discovered the bomb in late September while working in the fields and immediately reported it to the authorities.
The disposal operation, initially delayed due to recent flooding, was carried out on the afternoon of October 9, about 4 kilometers from the commune’s center, to ensure public safety, Hung said.
Earlier, the Lao Cai Department of Agriculture and Environment reported that as of 5 p.m. on October 1, typhoon Bualoi, the tenth storm of the year, had caused serious damage in the province, leaving five people dead, ten injured, and over 9,700 houses affected. The total loss was estimated at VND 2.75 trillion.
VOV.VN - Two bombs discovered near Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi were successfully retrieved and relocated to a safe place on September 18, according to the city's Capital Command.
