
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has requested provincial and municipal department of industry and trade to direct businesses and relevant units to stockpile essential goods and ensure power supply continuity in response to Typhoon Wipha.
In an official dispatch, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien called for proactive, timely, and effective actions in line with instructions from the Prime Minister and local authorities. He stressed the need for the highest level of responsibility in storm preparedness and response.
He instructed departments of industry and trade to direct hydropower operators to ensure dam safety, comply with approved operation procedures, prepare emergency response resources, and coordinate with local authorities to issue timely flood discharge warnings to downstream areas.
The Minister also asked local authorities to guide businesses in stockpiling essential items, such as food, drinking water, and basic supplies, and to develop plans for delivering goods to flood-prone or isolated areas.
To ensure electricity supply, the National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) and the National Power System and Electricity Market Operation Company (NSMO) have been instructed to mobilize appropriate power sources and coordinate closely with hydropower plant operators during the storm.
Vietnam Electricity (EVN) is directing its subsidiaries and dam operators to prepare resources in accordance with the “four on-site” principle, while inspecting key power grid facilities and preparing for rapid restoration in storm-hit areas.
The Vietnam National Petroleum Group is also required to safeguard fuel depots and gas stations, prevent oil spills, and ensure sufficient gasoline supply in affected localities.
VOV.VN - Military units must take swift and decisive action to prepare for the imminent arrival of Typhoon Wipha, aiming to protect the lives and property of the people, the State, and the armed forces, while minimising storm-related damage, according to a directive from the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
VOV.VN - Numerous northern provinces and educational institutions have temporarily suspended classes to safeguard students and staff as Typhoon Wipha, the third storm to form over the East Sea this year, is approaching landfall.
