VOV.VN - A recent crackdown on a drug trafficking ring from Cambodia to Vietnam led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of around 25 kg of drugs in the Mekong Delta province of Long An.
According to details given by the Song Trang Border Guard Station, the suspect was identified as Tran Van Men, 42, residing in Hung Dien commune of Tan Hung district in Long An province. Relevant forces also confiscated 25 kg of drugs which had been hidden in two travel bags while raiding Men’s house.
Men confessed that he had waded across the Cai Co river in Cay Me hamlet of Hung Dien commune to reach the other side of the river in the Cambodian province of Prey Veng to receive two travel bags containing drugs from an unknown Cambodian citizen.
The Vietnamese suspect was paid VND7 million per kg of the drug.
Following this, Men brought them to his home and subsequently hid them in a wardrobe.
When receiving information the buyer was provided with by the unknown Cambodia, Men was told to deliver the drugs to a buyer in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City.
The case is currently under further investigation.
VOV.VN - The police of Hai Chau district in central Da Nang city said on August 6 that they have arrested two Vietnamese men for trafficking a huge amount of drugs from Laos.
VOV.VN - Border forces operating in the central province of Quang Tri said on July 25 that they have smashed a major drug trafficking ring which had been transporting illegal substances into the nation from Laos, arresting three Vietnamese nationals in the process.
