
VOV.VN - A total of 8,335 traffic accidents occurred nationwide over the past nine months, killing 4,765 people and injuring 5,802 others, according to a report unveiled by the National Committee for Traffic Safety.
The number of accidents and deaths dropped by 90 cases and 60 cases respectively, while the number of injuries rose by 216 people, said the committee.
It also reported that 33 cities and provinces showed a reduction in the number of deaths compared to the same period last year. In particular, Da Nang and Thua Thien - Hue province saw a sharp decrease of over 40%.
In contrast, 29 localities witnessed an annual increase in fatalities, with Phu Tho, Nam Dinh, and Kon Tum provinces recording an average rise of over 40%.
About 22 serious traffic accidents occurred nationwide, causing large casualties and drawing much public attention.
