Vietnam Airlines makes emergency landing in India to assist passenger

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines flight VN56 from London (UK) to Hanoi made an emergency landing at Kolkata Airport (India) on July 6 to provide urgent medical assistance to a passenger showing abnormal health symptoms.

Approximately nine hours after takeoff, a passenger of Danish nationality showed signs of medical distress. The cabin crew immediately issued a call for medical support from onboard passengers and provided initial first aid. The captain shortly decided to divert the flight and make an emergency landing in Kolkata.

The aircraft landed safely, and the passenger, accompanied by two relatives, was transferred to a local medical facility for further treatment. After completing all necessary procedures, flight VN56 resumed its journey and landed in Hanoi at 3:43 PM (local time) on July 7.

According to a Vietnam Airlines representative, this is one of several instances in which the airline has adjusted flight schedules to assist passengers in need of urgent medical care. Previous emergency landings occurred on flights VN7569 (Hanoi–Nha Trang), VN158 (Da Nang–Hanoi), and VN35 (Hanoi–Frankfurt) due to similar health-related issues.

Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to actively monitor and assess their health before traveling. If any abnormal symptoms arise, they should consult a doctor and carefully consider their fitness to fly to ensure safety during the journey.
