Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), on November 4 handed over VND1 billion (US$43,190) to residents affected by Storm Molave in central Quang Nam province.
On this occasion, VND500 million has also been given to VGCL members who have been hit by the storm.
The same day, the VGCL delegation presented VND20 million to the Quang Nam General Hospital, and relief aid to the residents who were injured in a landslide Ta Leng commune, Nam Tra My district, and are being treated at the hospital.
Extending his sympathies over storm-triggered losses to local residents and labourers, Khang expressed his hope that they will soon overcome the difficulties and soon stabilise their lives.
Since late September, 235 people in the central region have been listed as dead or missing from storms and floods, which have also caused estimated economic losses of about VND17 trillion, according to a Government report to the National Assembly on November 2.
