VOV.VN - The Ministry of Finance stated on December 2 that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to entrust the Ministry with the task of allocating 1,000 tonnes of rice from the national reserve for Savanakhet province in Laos, an area which has been hard hit by recent natural disasters.
The schedule of the efforts will see 1,000 tonnes of rice handed over to Laos through the State Reserve Department in Nghe Tinh province before December 5.
Following the statement, a representative from Savanakhet province issued their sincere thanks to the Party, State, Government, and Vietnamese citizens for the meaningful donation. Indeed, the aid represents timely support for Laotian people in general, and especially for residents in the province, during this challenging period.
The representative added that this marks one of the most impressive political events to occur on the eve of the 43rd meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Inter-Governmental Committee.
The Laotian representative also affirmed that the province will receive and distribute the allocated rice to those in need as swiftly as possible.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to provide 2,000 tonnes of rice from the national reserve as food aid to residents in the central provinces of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh who suffered from serious flooding.
