Vietnam, RoK expand cooperation in high-tech, semiconductor and AI training

The programme, themed “Leading Technology-Connecting the Future,” focused on sectors facing strong demand for skilled workers, including semiconductors, electronics, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation.

At the working session, delegates discussed academic cooperation, curriculum transfer, research capacity building and the development of applied joint training models such as 2+2 and 3+1.

Participants said Vietnam is well positioned to play a bigger role in global technology supply chains, particularly in semiconductors and AI. However, training engineers and technology specialists to international standards remains an urgent priority.

In a recent media interview in RoK, Sung Eun-hyun, Vice President of Hoseo University, said the university is working to establish itself as a specialised training hub for semiconductors and AI while expanding cooperation with Vietnamese universities and colleges.

According to Sung, Hoseo University has proposed 2+2 and 3+1 joint training programmes, allowing students to complete most of their studies in Vietnam before transferring to RoK to finish their programmes.The model helps reduce costs while giving students access to advanced training and research environments.

Hoseo University has also developed remote learning programmes and teaching materials, allowing students in Vietnam to access education with quality comparable to that offered in RoK. Students also have opportunities to participate in internships and short-term research programmes at the university’s Dangjin campus.

Hoseo is currently the only university in RoK with both a semiconductor research centre and a semiconductor packaging research centre serving specialised training and research.

Apart from its strengths in technology, Hoseo is also recognised for its startup ecosystem, connecting experts, businesses and investment funds.

The university said it is ready to share resources and experience while supporting Vietnamese lecturers and students with promising startup projects.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese educational institutions signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Hoseo University, thereby expanding opportunities for training and talent development to support digital transformation and the development of the knowledge economy in both countries.
