VOV.VN - A group of 40 young volunteers from the Republic of Korea have recently engaged in a number of charities in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre, including building four houses for the poor in the locality.
They also offered a Korean language class to local children, took part in cultural exchanges and sports games, and organized folk games, bearing the traditional cultural imprint of both countries.
Kang Seohyun of Dream School Korea, said that the exchanges and volunteer activities in Ben Tre gave the Korean volunteers the chance to learn about the distinctive culture of people living in the western region of Vietnam.
“Members of the delegation were much impressed with local dishes as well as affection of Ben Tre people,” said Kang. “We will bring these memories back to Korea and tell others about them.”
Kang said she hopes to return to Vietnam again sometime in the future to do volunteer work.
On October 20, Dream School donated 20 bicycles to poor students who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their study Tan Thanh Binh Primary School 1.
The delegation of young Korean volunteers also handed over four charity houses to residents of Mo Cay District, Ben Tre province.
As many as 24 youths and students from the Republic of Korea (RoK) joined in volunteer activities in Mo Cay Bac district, the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre, on August 7-8.
