VOV.VN - The BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2024 kicked off on August 29 at Legend Da Nang Golf Resort in Ngu Hanh Son district of the central city with the participation of 144 domestic and international golfers.
Nguyen Trong Thao, deputy head of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, said that the occasion represents an important sporting event in the region, contributing to affirming the position of the coastal city as a leading destination of events and festivals in Asia.
He noted that the tournament will contribute to boosting the city’s high-quality tourism development, especially in terms of leisure tourism.
In addition, Thao added that the event also aims to popularise the image of Da Nang to both local and international tourists.
Apart from domestic professional golfers, including Truong Chi Quan and Nguyen Nhat Long, several well-known international professional golfers are also competing in the tournament, including Rahil Ganjee of India and Ahmad Baig of Pakistan.
The winner of the tournament will go on to pocket the total prize money of up to US$100,000. The golf tournament is scheduled to run until Augusts 31.
The BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang is one of the major international golf tournaments played under the Asian Development Tour, part of the Asian Tour. The golf tournament has been held in the nation over the past three years.
Vietnam won one gold, one silver and two bronzes at the Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championships (SEAAGTC) 2024 which closed on July 12 in Singapore.
