VOV.VN - Talented local golfer Nguyen Anh Minh has become the country’s first golf player to rank 46th in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
This rise is credited to his three consecutive individual victories in recent tournaments, including the K-Golf Lab Kor-Viet Invitational Tournament at Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong on February 7.
The 18-year-old golfer amassed 11,145 points, obtaining the best achievement of his career. Compared to the previous update, Minh climbed four spots in the WAGR.
Since the start of the year, Anh Minh has competed in two tournaments and claimed victory in both.
Notably, in January, Vietnam’s top golfer represented the Asia-Pacific team at the prestigious Bonallack Trophy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), making history as the only Vietnamese player in the lineup. Minh played a key role in securing the team’s victory over their European rivals to claim the championship.
Following the tournament, Anh Minh entered the world’s Top 50 for the first time.
The Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) expects to have an even more successful year ahead with a full calendar of events for 2025.
VOV.VN - Vietnamese golfer Nguyen Anh Minh has successfully won the Malaysian Amateur Open 2024, following a dramatic final-round battle with Minsu Kim from the Republic of Korea on December 15.
