According to the results, despite enjoying the advantage of holding the white pawn, Liem faced some difficulties in deploying attack tactics against the Norwegian player and ultimately suffered defeat after 45 moves.
This marked Liem's fifth defeat against Magnus Carlsen in an ELO match.
Carlsen is currently ranked first in the world chess rankings with an Elo coefficient of 2,832. The World Chess King is 91 Elo points higher than the Vietnamese player, who has an Elo coefficient of 2,741.
In the other matches, Le Tuan Minh (Elo 2,564) successfully beat Aryan Tari (Elo 2,642), while Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Tran Tuan Minh were held to a draw with Johan-Sebastian Christiansen and Frode Urkedal, respectively.
Therefore, the match between Vietnam and Norway came to a draw with the result being 2-2. With five wins, two draws, and one loss, the Vietnamese men's team ranked eighth place in the overall table.
The team will face off against the UK in the ninth round, which will be held at 20:00 p.m. on September 20 (local time).
