Linh, world No. 26, was unable to spring a surprise in the match against No. 7 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand.
Starting the match, the Vietnamese player dominated and quickly ended the first set at 21-14. However, the second set was more competitive as both players went back and forth, with Intanon eventually winning 21-16 to equalize the score.
In the last set, Linh looked physically weaker as she lost out to her Thai rival with a score of 21-7.
With the 1-2 loss, Nguyen Thuy Linh was knocked out of the 2023 US Open Badminton Tournament.
