VOV.VN - Vietnam are the most valuable team at SEA Games 33, with an estimated market value of around US$3.5 million, according to data from Transfermarkt, a well-known German football statistics site specialising in player valuations and transfers.
The valuation reflects both Vietnam’s investment in its younger generation and the strong performances of its players in domestic competitions.
Although Indonesian football has grown rapidly in recent years and Indonesia are the reigning SEA Games champions, the total market value of their squad still did not surpass Vietnam in terms of young player valuation, at US$3.44 million.
Meanwhile, hosts Thailand are estimated at US$2.06 million in squad value, significantly lower than their two Southeast Asian rivals. The team may not have featured all of their top young talents, which has led to an imbalance in valuation across positions.
The battle for individual market value between Vietnamese and Indonesian players also added an interesting highlight ahead of the tournament. The top-valued Vietnamese players are Khuat Van Khang and Nguyen Dinh Bac, each worth around US$370,000, recognised for their potential and consistent form in the V-League.
Comparatively, Indonesia’s Ivar Jenner is valued at US$325,600, followed by center-back Muhammad Ferrari at US$298,750, highlighting key players in their squad.
Experts note that while transfer market values indicate potential and investment, they do not guarantee tournament results. Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand remain strong contenders for the gold medal, as Southeast Asian youth football grows increasingly competitive and unpredictable.
SEA Games 33 kicked off on December 3, starting with a Group B match between Laos and Vietnam. It was followed by a Group A match between Timor-Leste and Thailand.
The tournament is expected to bring exciting matches and breakout performances from the region’s U22 players.
VOV.VN - Vietnamese rising star Tran Gia Bao has been named the second most valuable player at the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup, according to renowned German football website Transfermarkt.
