VOV.VN - Two players from the Vietnam U23 team, Tran Quang Thinh and Nguyen Thanh Nhan, have been named among the AFF U23 Championship Team of the Tournament as selected by Goal Asia.
The magazine has set out their Team of the Tournament in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Goal Asia selected Tran Quang Thinh as a prominent centre back, noting he was simply brilliant in the tournament and his team didn’t conceded a single goal on the pitch.
“He has marshalled Vietnam’s backline and has been an assuring presence at the back. He has made 20 ball recoveries, six interceptions and has won seven duels,” says the magazine.
“The fact that he has not been dribbled past in the entire tournament further highlights his brilliance,” the article adds.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thanh Nhan comes in at right back. The fullback has been solid defensively and has also made his presence felt in the attacking third with his trademark marauding runs down the right flank.
According to Goal Asia, Nhan won 19 duels in the tournament, which speaks volumes of his toughness in one-on-one situations. In addition, he also has made 13 recoveries and 11 interceptions throughout the competition.
“Thanh Nhan's contributions in the attacking third cannot be ignored as the defender has a passing accuracy of 90.32% in the final half of the pitch,” the magazine stresses.
