VOV.VN - Vietnam’s U22 national team will face their counterparts from Chinese Taipei in two friendly matches in early July, as part of their preparations for the 2025 ASEAN U-23 Championship, the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, and the 33rd SEA Games.
Both matches will be held behind closed doors in Ba Ria – Vung Tau on July 2 and July 4.
Head coach Kim Sang-sik said the friendlies are intended to help him evaluate the squad and fine-tune the lineup ahead of the ASEAN U-23 Championship, which is scheduled to take place in Indonesia this July.
Chinese Taipei’s U22 team is also using the matches to gear up for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, where they will compete in Group A in Jordan this September.
For this third training camp in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, coach Kim has called up a 35-man squad, notably larger than the groups assembled for the March and May sessions.
In addition to eight players from the 2023 ASEAN U-23 Championship squad, the roster also includes two overseas Vietnamese players: Viktor Le of Hong Linh Ha Tinh FC and Bui Alex of Bohemians Praha 1905. This is Viktor Le’s third call-up to the national team setup, and the second for Bui Alex.
Also present at the training camp are seven players from SLNA FC and Cong An Hanoi FC, who had just wrapped up the National Cup final in Vinh City, central Nghe An province on June 29.
VOV.VN - The Vietnam national U22 football team will play friendly matches abroad in the Chinese Football Association (CFA) Team China 2025 tournament in March as part of their preparations for upcoming international events.
