VOV.VN - Vietnam’s national U23 team have been placed in Pot 1 for the qualifying matches of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Asian Cup 2026.
Pot 1 also comprises of other strong teams such as Japan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Indonesia, and the Republic of Korea.
The AFC recently announced a list of the region’s 47 national U23 teams divided into seed groups for the qualifier’s draw. Qualification matches are scheduled to be played in September, 2025, and the draw for the fixtures will be held in June, 2025.
A total of 15 leading teams will ultimately progress to the final round of the AFC U23 Asian Cup, joining hosts Saudi Arabia.
VOV.VN - Head coach Kim Sang Sik announced a 35-player squad on August 12 ahead of the first gathering of Vietnam’s U22 team as they prepare for qualification games for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup in September, 2025, before then playing in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in December, 2025.
